Co-editors want student co-operation
A Letter from the editor
Clarissa Andrews / Co-Editor

To the Students of CSU:

As you all know by now, Amy Walters has resigned as editor of the Saber. Until we hold elections for the new editor, Stephanie Adams and I, Clarissa Andrews, have been appointed as the interim co-editors. I wanted to give you a little bit of our background in journalism so you'll know that we know what we're doing . . . or so we think.

I joined my high school paper in tenth grade and worked on it for three years. Among other things, I was a proofreader, a writer, assistant editor, and co-editor. I also did a good amount of the layout. At the University of Georgia, I worked at the Red & Black as a copy editor, which included layout. I've been writing for the Saber for a year, and have held the positions of Features Editor and Layout Editor.

Stephanie Adams, a communications major, has worked at the Saber for a year as a columnist and Greek Editor, which means she can write as well as do layout. Right now, she is interning at the Ledger in the marketing department.

We both hope that you will bear with us while we are co-editors of the paper and don't get too upset if or when we make mistakes.

In the past couple of weeks, we've had a few people come in and tell us that they would like to write for the paper. Any student is welcome to come to our staff meetings if he or she wants to learn about the experience of putting out a newspaper. The meetings are held on Tuesdays at 12:30 and usually don't last more than thirty minutes. We would love to have more writers, so please feel free to drop by for a meeting.

We decided to change the day of the week that the paper comes out to Wednesdays. As you might have noticed, last week's paper was not out on Wednesday. This was due to circumstances beyond our control-the Ledger's printer wasn't working, so the papers weren't put out on the stands until Thursday night. This shouldn't be a regular occurrence, so we're hoping you will all be understanding.

Another thing Stephanie and I want to tell you is that the Saber is a STUDENT newspaper. We're publishing this paper so that the students of CSU can read and hopefully enjoy it.

If there's something going on in Columbus or on campus that you think is newsworthy, please don't hesitate to send us an e-mail or call us to tell us about it. Our e-mail address is saber@colstate.edu, and the phone number is 568-2405.

All students are invited and encouraged to respond to our articles in letters to the editor(s) or anonymously in the ROAR column. If you want a letter you write to be published, please send it to our e-mail address with your name included.

If you want the letter to be anonymous, please say so. We still need your name signed so that we can contact you if necessary. Keep in mind that letters we receive can be edited for grammar and clarity.
Your opinions about the Saber are valued, so we welcome your comments--even if they're not nice. If there are any changes you would like to see made to the paper, let us know. Believe it or not, we do listen to what the student body says.

In the meantime, keep your fingers crossed for us . . . :)
